monument to Nevsky, dedicated jointly by the Governor of St.
Petersburg Vladimir Yaklovlev, and by Vladimir the Metropolitan
of St. Petersburg and Lagoda, was unveiled during the second
week of May 2002.
It is sited
in the center of the traffic island at the Lavra end of Nevsky
Prospekt. At the front of the monument is a plaque with
an inscription which translates as,
"Whoever will come to us with sword, from sword will perish"
